COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Dec. 2, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming held their 56th annual board meeting at The Lyric in Casper—celebrating over five decades of service and leadership in the local community. The meeting honored Matt Cassel for 35 years of service as the organization served 13,887 youth last year.  Oil City News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Rodney Carrington—celebrated comedian—will perform at the Ford Wyoming Center on April 3 to boost Casper’s growing comedy scene. His act is expected to draw local fans as the city welcomes new cultural events.  Jack FM

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Natrona County School District announced that School Choice Registration is open now through January 16 for families to enroll their children for the 2026–27 school year—this applies to new students, incoming kindergartners, and students transitioning to new grades or schools. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A cold front is moving through Casper today — bringing snow showers, strong gusts up to 39 mph and slick roads that reduce visibility. Transportation officials report dangerous conditions along key routes and urge drivers to exercise caution.  The Cowboy
  • BLM starts pile burning today at Muddy Mountain Environmental Education Area—located 15 miles south of Casper and south of Casper Mountain. The burn depends on proper fuel moisture and weather conditions and may produce visible smoke in nearby areas.  Wyoming News Now
  • A cold front is moving through Casper today and will bring strong winds and snow showers that lower visibility and cause slick roads — the Wyoming Department of Transportation warns that several road segments face dangerous wind conditions and extreme blow over risks.  K2 Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Casper City Council is meeting tonight to consider adding $449,172 — to cover extended sewer work and trench extension — to the Old Landfill Remediation Project, which will extend by 301 days to reduce groundwater contamination and methane buildup. The project also will install a new gravity-fed sewer system for the future Metro Animal Shelter.  The Cowboy
  • The City Council voted Tuesday to amend its contract so the city now handles limited maintenance at David Street Station's downtown plaza. The new deal provides up to $500 per year for irrigation and in-kind support like tree care and splash pad work—following the station's request for help.  Oil City News
  • At Tuesday’s Casper City Council meeting, Mayor Ray Pacheco praised police, firefighters, public works crews and others for their swift response during the Nov. 13 widespread power outage — he noted that teams quickly set up a command post and managed a surge in calls. He added that firefighters handled 18 calls in two hours while city staff ensured water and transit services continued without interruption.  Oil City News
  • Governor Mark Gordon announced that NTIA approved Wyoming’s final proposal for the BEAD program—this will help bring high-speed internet to every serviceable location. The approval opens nearly $348 million in grants to local Internet Service Providers under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.  Wyoming News Now
