Casper residents want faster buses, and a transit plan adds micro-transit vans
Planners weighed three cost-neutral routing options
| Option | Bus frequency | Changes |
|---|---|---|
| Coverage-focused | Every hour | Yellow and green merge; service grows north, east |
| Frequency-focused | Every 30 minutes | Purple, blue, orange merge; green runs north–south |
| Hybrid (preferred) | Every 30 minutes | Two main lines plus micro-transit vans |

If you ride the bus, your routes could change. Casper Area Transit will move forward with plans for an overhaul after a study found residents prefer faster, more frequent service over broad coverage. The plan also calls for a ride-share-like micro-transit service run by the city or a private contractor.
- Bus lines: two main routes, every 30 minutes
- Van response target: 30 minutes or less
- Transfer station: would move from Beech Street to Casper City Hall
- Next step: final approvals by Casper Metropolitan Planning in December
Under the preferred hybrid, on-demand vans would give curb-to-curb rides in designated zones and carry riders to fixed-route stops for the standard transit fare. In June outreach, transit users named medical facilities, grocery stores and employment centers as top priorities for stops, said transportation planner Mikhail Kaminer.
Two surveys shaped the transit plan's three options
- 80
- survey responses in the first survey
- 60
- or so survey responses in the second
- 3
- cost-neutral routing options planners developed
- 30 minutes
- bus frequency under the preferred option
